1. Submit your Special Issue proposal

Conatus - Journal of Philosophy has published so far several special issues focusing on specific areas or subjects. The Journal encourages potential Guest Editors to submit detailed formal proposals by e-mail to the Managing Editor, or the Editor-in-Chief at dvertzagia[at]philosophy.uoa[dot]gr and eprotopa[at]philosophy.uoa[dot]gr respectively. Proposals should be considered by the Editorial Board and Staff only if they don't fail to include:

  • The suggested title of the proposed Special Issue.
  • A brief CV of the proposed Guest Editor/s.
  • A cover letter explaining the Special Issue’s significance for Conatus - Journal of Philosophy.
  • Names of the potential or already agreed contributors.
  • An outline timetable.

The Managing Editor will formally contact potential Guest Editor/s within a month and convey the initial decision of the Editorial Board.

2. Aftrer the initial acceptance of your proposal

The initial acceptance of your proposal doesn't mean that the proposed Special Issue will be eventually published; what it means is that the process may be initiated, first of all by issuing a Call for Papers. The Guest Editor/s should consult with the Managing Editor in order to produce a draft Call for Papers, and submit it for approval by the Editor-in-Chief and/or the Editorial Board.

The Guest Editor/s should also produce an Introduction to the subject-matter of the Special Issue. At this stage the Introduction should theoretically discuss the issue, and expose the Guest Editor/s views on it. After the Special Issue is finalized, the Introduction should be completed by detailed reference to each individual paper included.

3. Standards and editorial procedures

All papers should be submitted through the Journal's on-line submission system according to guidelines applicable to ordinary submissions.

All articles should meet the high quality standards of the Journal, as any other article; in particular, they should satisfy the Journal's criteria of quality, relevance, originality (overviews or reprints are not acceptable), and significance.

All submitted articles will be subject to double blind peer review, exactly as all other articles, through the Journal's double blind peer review on-line system.

Solicited articles will also be subject to double blind peer review, but potentially also by internal reviewers, that is, members of the Editorial Board.

The Managing Editor and/or the Editor-in-Chief may reject either individual papers, or the Special Issue as a whole after consulting with members of the Editorial Board, in case the number of the papers included is too limited, the outline timetabe is not observed, or the quality of the overal issue falls short of the Journal's quality standards.
